
Chiang Mai province continues to face ongoing wildfire situations. Recently, the Facebook page Ban Suan Mae Nham Mee Homestay Ban Huay Kub Kab posted an update on the wildfire in the area, noting how the scenic viewpoint of the sea of mist has turned into a sea of flames.
On 30 Mar 2026 GMT+7, a reporter reported that in Mae Taeng district, Chiang Mai province, the Facebook page "Ban Suan Mae Nham Mee Homestay Ban Huay Kub Kab" posted text and images comparing past and present. Tourists previously stayed to enjoy beautiful views of the sea of mist and mountain ranges in the morning and evening, but now visitors witness wildfires and smoke seas from the accommodation point, showing a changed landscape.
The page stated, “The sea of mist viewpoint has become a sea of flames. #ChiangMai residents anxiously watch the wildfire at #BanHuayKubKab in Mae Taeng district. The village firefighting team and local administrative office units continuously work to extinguish fires and create firebreaks. However, strong winds have caused previously extinguished fires to flare up again around midnight.”
There are as many as 4,291 hotspot detections across Thailand.
Among these, 2,192 hotspots are found within protected forest areas.
There are 1,591 hotspots in national reserved forests, 187 in agricultural areas, 177 in Agricultural Land Reform Office (ALRO) land, and 139 in community and other areas.
Additionally, 5 hotspots have been found along highway areas.
