A reporter reported that at 08:30 on 1 April 2026, at the Prang Ku historical site, Village 9, Ma Eu Subdistrict, Thawat Buri District, Roi Et Province, Ms. Pranee Wongbut, Deputy Governor of Roi Et, presided over the opening of the "Boon Song Ku Festival 2026" amid a lively atmosphere with many locals and tourists attending.

"Prang Ku" is an important historical site built during the reign of King Jayavarman VII of the ancient Khmer kingdom in the 17th–18th Buddhist centuries, constructed from laterite. In 1933, villagers enshrined a Buddha image inside Prang Ku for worship, a practice continuing to the present day.
This year's event was grandly held from 31 March to 2 April 2026, featuring the procession of Phra Upakut, a spectacular parade, worship ceremonies, ritual dances, the water pouring ceremony at Prang Ku, and a light and sound show telling the history of Prang Ku.
Additionally, the festival included the "Miss Prang Ku" contest and booths selling OTOP products and local foods, generating income for the community and attracting tourists to experience Isan culture up close.
The Boon Song Ku Festival is a significant cultural identity of Roi Et Province, reflecting cultural roots, fostering unity, and continuously stimulating the local economy.
