A trailer truck lost brake control and grazed a fuel tanker before overturning near Neun Phitsawang in Mae Sot, causing diesel to leak onto the road surface and creating a long traffic jam. Officials spread sand to prevent slippery roads and avoid further accidents due to the slick surface.
At 10:30 a.m. on 3 Apr 2026 GMT+7, reporters learned that the Mae Sot Police Station’s emergency radio center received a report of a fuel tanker collision near Neun Phitsawang. They coordinated with rescue teams and the Tak Highway District 2 to jointly inspect the scene.
At the scene, outbound and inbound traffic including cars, pickup trucks, and various trucks were backed up for several kilometers on the outbound side. The inbound lanes were fully closed for road repairs. On the outbound side, both lanes were separated by barriers. At the accident site, diesel pooled on the road with a strong fuel odor. On the left side of the road, a container trailer truck was found overturned on the roadside.
Mr. Song, 49, the container trailer truck driver, said he was driving down from Neun Phitsawang, a downhill curved road. Due to the road being reduced to two lanes and several small pickups ahead, he lost control of the brakes because his heavy truck weighed over 37 tons. This caused him to graze other vehicles before overturning. He sustained an injury to his right elbow, with a deep laceration more than 10 centimeters long.
About 20 meters from the overturned container truck in the middle of the road was a 26,000-liter diesel tanker stopped in the road center. Diesel was leaking from the driver’s side tank, which showed a long scrape from the rear of the fuel tank to behind the driver’s cabin. Mr. Watch, 34, the tanker driver, said he was transporting diesel from Chonburi province to Mae Sot district when the accident occurred.
Currently, officials from Tak Highway District 2 have spread sand on the road surface where diesel leaked to prevent the road from becoming slippery and to avoid repeat accidents.
The Mae Sot Police Station’s duty officer has documented the incident to investigate and identify those responsible. Rescue personnel from Pitak Kan rescue team transported the injured driver to Mae Sot Hospital for treatment.
