On 3 Apr 2026 GMT+7, reports state that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had briefed the media on 30 Mar 2026 GMT+7 about developments concerning three Thai crew members aboard the Thai-flagged cargo ship "Mayuree Naree," which was involved in an incident while passing through the Strait of Hormuz on 11 Mar 2026 GMT+7. The Ministry has been continuously monitoring the case and updating the media and the public.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to provide the latest update on this matter. Today (3 April 2026 GMT+7), the Ministry received coordination from Precious Shipping, the owner of the "Mayuree Naree" ship, stating that a specialized search and rescue team contracted by the company has boarded the vessel for the second time to search for the three missing Thai crew members.
The search team conducted a thorough inspection of all accessible areas as far as conditions allowed, since the ship sustained damage from a fire and flooding in the engine room and surrounding areas. They have found some human body parts in the damaged sections of the ship, but have not been able to confirm the identities. The company has already informed the families of the crew members about this development.
The Ministry expresses its condolences regarding this update and will closely coordinate with the relevant Thai embassies, Iranian authorities, and other related agencies to verify the identities as soon as possible. Further updates will be provided by the Ministry.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges all involved parties to promptly return to negotiation and diplomatic processes to resolve the tensions in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter, prioritizing the safety of civilians and the free passage of commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
