Close Disciple of Artist Chalermchai Kositpipat Mourned at Wat Rong Khun Cremation Set for 6 April

Mourners gathered in tribute "M Muang Phan" a close disciple of artist Chalermchai Kositpipat packed Wat Rong Khun, with cremation set for 6 April


On the evening of 4 April 2026, reporters at the multipurpose pavilion behind Wat Rong Khun in Pa O Don Chai Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Rai District, Chiang Rai Province, described the atmosphere during the first night of the funeral vigil for Narin Tammas, or M Muang Phan, age 49, a close disciple and personal secretary of renowned Chiang Rai artist Chalermchai Kositpipat. The mood was deeply sorrowful, with artists, prominent locals, relatives, and many members of the public continuously arriving to pay their respects.

Narin died in a motorcycle accident, reportedly losing control on a curve on the road near Ban Teen Doi, Village 8, Mae Suai Subdistrict, Mae Suai District, Chiang Rai. The accident occurred in the early evening of 3 April 2026. His family and relatives then brought his body to Wat Rong Khun to hold the funeral rites, with the vigil starting at 7:30 p.m.

Artist Chalermchai Kositpipat addressed attendees, saying that death is a natural part of life. After death, the body holds no value; what remains are the good deeds the deceased created, which allow everyone to remember and meet again in future lives. He also expressed his gratitude to all who came to offer their condolences.

Reports further state that the funeral rites and merit-making will continue for another night on 5 April 2026 at 7:30 p.m. On 6 April 2026 at 10:30 a.m., religious ceremonies will be held before the body is transported at noon to the Ruamjai Rong Khun Crematorium in San Sai Noi, Pa O Don Chai Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Rai District, for cremation.

Narin, or M Muang Phan, was a close disciple who accompanied artist Chalermchai Kositpipat on many assignments both domestically and abroad. He also joined motorcycle tours to various locations and was the owner of the Facebook page Narin Tammas and admin of the page "Following the Life of Artist Chalermchai Kositpipat," which regularly shared news, photos, and videos about the artist. His sudden passing has deeply saddened those close to him and his many followers.
