Journalists Association Invites Entries for World Press Freedom Day 2026 Photo and Short Film Contest Reflecting Media Workers Lives

The Journalists Association of Thailand is hosting a photo and short clip contest to mark "World Press Freedom Day" 2026, themed "Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Truth" and "The Real Life of Media Workers."

On 5 April 2026, Mr. Chairit Yonpiam, Vice President for Rights, Freedoms, and Media Reformof the Journalists Association of Thailand, spoke about"World Press Freedom Day" (World Press Freedom Day), observed annually on 3 May. The association plans activities under the slogan "Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Truth."

They launched a photo contest titled "Power of News, Power of Truth" and a short clip contest called "The Real Life of Media Workers," aiming to tell stories of journalists who dedicate themselves, sacrificing personal time and safety to report news amid pressure, effort, and pride in their profession, reflecting the lives of media workers devoted to truth. Winners receive cash prizes and certificates of honor.All submitted photos will become the property of the Journalists Association of Thailand and will be publicly shared through social media,

online media, websites, and other suitable channels to support campaigns based on fundamental freedoms under the constitution.Interested participants can submit photos or short clips by posting them on any social media platform such as Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, usingthe hashtags

The news agency must regularly report news, have its own distribution channels such as newspapers, television, radio, or websites, and have a clear editorial team or responsible persons.Judging criteria include aesthetics, technique, relevance to the theme reflecting the relationship between "freedom of the press" and "freedom of truth."

Prizes: First prize 10,000 baht, second prize 5,000 baht, honorable mention 2,500 baht, and Popular Vote prize 5,000 baht.Rules:1. Photos must be original works without copyright infringement.

2. Photos must be posted publicly on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram from now until 23 April 2026.

3. No editing that alters the factual content.4. Entries must include hashtags #FreedomOfPressFreedomOfTruth #WorldPressFreedomDay #WPFD2026.5. Participants may submit up to three photos each.

Details of the short clip contest "The Real Life of Media Workers" are as follows:

Eligibility: Must be media professionals working in news agencies, such as field reporters, photographers, or desk reporters.

Rules:1. Clips must be posted publicly on TikTok, Shorts, or Reels platforms from now until 23 April 2026.

2. Entries must include hashtags #RealLifeMediaWorkers #WorldPressFreedomDay #WPFD2026 #TJA.

3. Participants may submit up to one clip each, no longer than 60 seconds, either solo or group clips.Participants can join both photo and clip contests from 5 to 23 April. Winners will be announced and Popular Vote opened on 30 April, with awards presented on 3 May.
