
A fire destroyed "Baan Hug Huan Suk," a popular guesthouse in Chiang Dao, causing heavy damage. The owner sadly recounted the moments when the fire spread to multiple spots, with initial losses estimated at more than 4 million baht.
Reports state that in the early morning of 7 Apr 2026, a fire broke out at a lodging facility within a nature study tourist area on Doi Luang Chiang Dao, known as "Baan Hug Huan Suk." It is located in Na Lao Mai village (Yom Rabiang Dao Hamlet), Chiang Dao subdistrict, Chiang Dao district, Chiang Mai province. After the incident, relevant officials rushed to control the fire, which was eventually extinguished.
. . Mine, the owner of the guesthouse where the fire occurred, provided information that the incidentwas a fire.It happened around 04:00 hrs. At that time, she was not on-site directly but received a call from her granddaughter, who then informed her. She quickly went to the scene and arrived around 05:30 hrs to find the guesthouse burning. She joined with locals to helpput out the firealongside the villagers, butthe fire was very intense.Later, officials from Chiang Dao Subdistrict Administrative Organization brought a water truck to assist, and the fire was controlled by about 07:00 hrs.
Initially, the fire damaged multiple points including the coffee shop, kitchen, residential lodgings, guest rooms, and two restrooms, as well as the tent areaused for camping,which also storedvarious equipment and supplies.. Preliminary damageis estimated at more than 4 million baht.
Fortunately, there were no injuries since the guesthouse was closed at the time, having been shut down from 1 Mar until around 31 May 2026.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, as the area is located in the middle of the village and there has beenno forest fire in the vicinity.Police and forensic officers have already visited the site and are currentlyinvestigatingto findthe exactcause.
