
Songkhla — A BMW Z4 sports car lost control and overturned on Lopburi Ramesuan Road, the Hat Yai–Songkhla route. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Police are urgently investigating the cause.
At 03:00 today (9 Apr 2026 CE), Pol. Col. Macha Kaewthong, Superintendent of Hat Yai Police Station in Songkhla Province, received a report of a car accident involving a vehicle overturning on Lopburi Ramesuan Road, Hat Yai–Songkhla route, outbound side near the Central Mosque area, Khlong Hae Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla.
After arriving to inspect the scene with investigators, the detective team, patrol officers from Hat Yai Police Station, and rescue workers from the Mittapap Samakee Foundation (Tongsia Siangtueng) Hat Yai team,
they found a black BMW Z4 sports car with license plate Kan 1777 Trang, blocking the middle of the road. The car was crushed and showed scrape marks from overturning. Beside the car lay the driver’s body, ejected from the vehicle, deceased at the scene. He was identified as Mr. Theerasak Promma, 55, who was found to be a technical officer at a major telecommunications company.
Additionally, five mobile phones, a wallet containing over 3,000 baht in cash, various documents, and cards were found, with no other irregularities or illegal items inside the car.
Preliminary questioning revealed that no witnesses saw the cause of the accident. The driver was found by passersby after the car was already blocking the road with the driver’s body next to it.
Based on the assessment, it is possible the driver was speeding, lost control, causing the car to spin and overturn in the middle of the road. Police will interview nearby witnesses and review CCTV footage from the area to assist the investigation.
After the incident, the deceased’s body was taken to Hat Yai Hospital, and relatives were contacted to arrange for the body to be taken for funeral rites.
