The Crime Suppression Division arrested a 39-year-old woman at a rented house in Hat Yai who deceived relatives and acquaintances into lending her five motorcycles, which she pawned to get money to repay illegal debts. She said she was forced to do so despite knowing it would cause others trouble.
On 9 Apr 2026 GMT+7, officers from Division 6 of the Crime Suppression Division, led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Thanakarn Uchanarasamee, investigated and arrested Ms. Mantana, 39, a suspect in a theft case under a warrant issued by the Songkhla Provincial Court on 21 Jan 2025 GMT+7. She had repeatedly deceived acquaintances into lending motorcycles, at least five in total, to pawn them to pay off illegal debts.
Officers learned that the suspect had fled creditors and rented a house in the Chok Saman Khun community, Hat Yai Municipality, Songkhla Province. However, she was eventually caught by the Crime Suppression Division police.
During questioning at the time of arrest, she confessed to deceiving relatives and acquaintances into lending five motorcycles, as reported in complaints. She pawned them in Ban Pru Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, each for 4,000-5,000 baht, to pay off illegal debts or loans taken for motorcycle helmets and to cover interest payments she could not keep up with. Whenever she had to pay interest, she resorted to deceiving acquaintances to lend motorcycles to pawn. Although she knew this caused trouble and severed ties, she said she was forced to do it because she did not know how else to get money to pay the loan interest.
After her arrest, the Crime Suppression Division handed her over to Koh Hong Police Station, the jurisdiction where the offenses occurred, for prosecution.
