Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya—People have begun gradually returning home for Songkran 2026. This morning, traffic on the Asian Highway near the Bang Pa-in interchange is not yet heavy, allowing continuous travel speeds. Congestion is expected this evening.
At 07:00 on 10 April 2026, reporters observed the atmosphere as people began returning to their hometowns during the extended Songkran holiday this year.
On the Asian Highway near the Bang Pa-in interchange at kilometer marker 1, heading toward Ang Thong Province and passing the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya provincial government center, travelers began departing for other provinces from early dawn. Although traffic volume is not yet heavy, vehicle movement is steadily increasing.
Overall, traffic remains smooth, with vehicles traveling around 80-90 kilometers per hour. No traffic build-up or jams have occurred so far, but it is expected that traffic will increase rapidly this evening, becoming heavily congested as many people finish work on the last day before the long holiday.
Meanwhile, other major routes—including the Ayutthaya interchange, Phahonyothin Road near Wang Noi heading toward the Northeast, the Kanchanaphisek Ring Road (Highway 9), and Highway 347 in Pathum Thani heading toward Bang Pa Han District—have seen increased vehicle use but remain uncongested, with traffic still flowing well.
This pattern is largely due to some companies and industrial factories already beginning to close, while others are working their last day today. This has led people to spread their travel starting from early morning, with traffic expected to become denser in the evening and night.
Authorities have urged the public to plan their journeys in advance, ensure their vehicles are ready, and drive carefully to stay safe throughout the Songkran festival.
