Hat Yai Junction Railway Station Bustles with Travelers as First-Class Tickets Fully Booked Through 28 April During Songkran Holiday

The atmosphere at Hat Yai Junction Railway Station is lively, with both local and Bangkok-bound trains packed. First-class tickets are fully booked through 28 April. The Southern Line's special trains 983-984 (Krung Thep Aphiwat–Yala) sold out all 400 seats within just 15 minutes.

On 10 April 2026, reporters observed a bustling travel scene during the long Songkran holiday at Hat Yai Junction Railway Station, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. Since morning, people have been traveling steadily, increasingly choosing train services compared to previous years due to the impact of high fuel prices.

Both local trains on the Southern Line and trains to and from Bangkok are crowded on every service. Especially, all first-class tickets on Southern Line trains during Songkran are fully booked through 28 April.

Regarding service, the State Railway has added an extra special train during the Songkran festival: train 983-984 from Krung Thep Aphiwat to Yala and back, operating from 10 to 17 April to accommodate the increased number of passengers this year.

The first trip departs today at 19:30 from Krung Thep Aphiwat Station, ending at Yala Station. After ticket sales opened on 27 March, all 400 seats on this special train were booked within 15 minutes.
