Traffic on Route 304 Toward Isan Becomes Congested Police Maintain Full Patrol Along the Route

Traffic conditions on Route 304 from Prachinburi to Korat in the eastern region heading toward Isan have started to become congested. This year, fewer people are traveling home during Songkran compared to last year.

On the afternoon of 11 April 2026, traffic along Route 304 from Si Maha Phot District through Kabin Buri District to Na Di District in Prachinburi Province showed increasing numbers of travelers returning to their hometowns. Traffic was intermittently heavy but vehicles could still travel at speeds between 80 and 120 km/h, with no accumulated congestion.

At the PTT gas station—the first station on the uphill side in Wang Nam Khiao District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province—many travelers from eastern provinces such as Chonburi and Rayong, who left work in the afternoon to return home, stopped to rest. The station was crowded with both vehicles and drivers taking breaks.

When asked about traffic from the starting point through Kabin Buri District, it was reported that while vehicle volume was high, there was no traffic jam. However, compared to last year's Songkran, the number of people traveling home was about 50 percent lower than the previous year.

Mr. Prasert Plueangrat, who rode a motorcycle from Chonburi Province heading back to Buriram Province, said he was going to his girlfriend's home in Buriram, about 400 kilometers away, expecting the trip to take four and a half hours. Traffic conditions were still manageable, with only a few cars starting to appear; once outside the city, it should improve. Comparing this year to last, last year’s traffic was heavier. This year, there are fewer vehicles, likely due to high fuel prices. Previously, filling up cost 80-100 baht for a full tank, but now it costs 130-150 baht. As a rider, the fuel is very expensive. He expects to arrive home around 7 to 8 pm.

In the evening along Route 304, from the boundary area of Sanam Chai Khet District, Chachoengsao Province, to Na Di District, Prachinburi Province, traffic was light, with some congestion occurring only around traffic light intersections.

According to Prachinburi Highway Police officers, traffic in the afternoon was only slightly heavy and became lighter in the evening. They reported that around midnight, the last group of travelers from the eastern region would be arriving. The highway police have deployed forces to manage traffic along the entire route, especially on the Khao Thon uphill section, to ensure that people can return safely to their hometowns.
