The Songkran water celebrations today (12 Apr 2026 GMT+7) on Silom Road in the Silom area of Bang Rak district were bustling from the afternoon. Both Thai locals and foreign tourists thronged the street to play with water amid intense heat.
Both sides of the road were closed to traffic specifically for water play. People carried water guns, buckets, and colorful water play equipment, joyfully splashing water at each other. Continuous music from stages and shops along the street created a full festival atmosphere during Songkran.
Meanwhile, police officers and municipal officials strictly maintained security, setting up screening points. Bringing powder, alcoholic drinks, and dangerous equipment into the area was prohibited to prevent conflicts and accidents.
Overall, the event proceeded smoothly. Many foreign tourists said they were impressed by the atmosphere and the friendliness of the Thai people, making Silom remain one of the busiest Songkran water play landmarks in Bangkok every year.
