Social Security Office Cares for Insured Persons During Songkran: Emergency Treatment Available Anywhere Without Advance Payment

The Social Security Office expresses concern for insured persons during Songkran, emphasizing that emergency treatment can be received anywhere without advance payment.


On 12 April 2026, Ms. Kanchana Phulkaew, Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, advised insured persons to always carry their national ID cards for convenience when accessing medical services. In cases of illness or emergency accidents, they can immediately receive treatment at the nearest hospital without advance payment, according to government policy. "Emergency critical illness, entitlement everywhere" or the UCEP (Universal Coverage for Emergency Patients) entitlement.

The Social Security Office branches in Bangkok, provinces, and nationwide are ready to provide services and facilitate coordination to assist insured persons fully, so they have no cause for concern.

In emergencies, insured persons can receive immediate treatment. However, they or their close contacts should notify the hospital according to their entitlement within 72 hours to ensure continuous medical care and service.

Ms. Kanchana concluded by saying that on the occasion of the Songkran Festival 2026, the executives and staff of the Social Security Office invoke the Triple Gem and all sacred beings

to bless all insured persons and their families with happiness, fulfillment, robust health, and freedom from all illnesses, and wishes that all insured persons travel safely and happily.

During the Songkran Festival, insured persons should enjoy the celebrations safely; in cases of illness, accidents, or emergencies, Social Security rights allow treatment anywhere without advance payment.
