Pathum Thani — A car returning from playing water during Songkran in the Sombatburi area of Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi Province, crashed into a motorcycle and flipped over, causing severe damage and resulting in multiple deaths and injuries. The accident occurred on a long stretch of road completely dark with no street lighting on.
At 02:00 on 13 April 2026, Pol. Lt. Col. Saksit Boonrub, Investigating Officer of Lat Lum Kaeo Police Station, received a report of a car colliding with a motorcycle, resulting in several deaths and injuries at the entrance to the Na Mai Subdistrict Administrative Organization on Taling Chan-Suphanburi Road heading toward Lat Bua Luang, Na Mai Subdistrict, Lat Lum Kaeo District, Pathum Thani Province.
Upon receiving the report, authorities promptly arrived at the scene with forensic doctors from the Institute of Forensic Science, rescue personnel from Lat Lum Kaeo Hospital, and volunteers from Ruamkatanyu Foundation equipped for cutting and extraction operations.
At the scene, a bronze silver Honda car with license plate KJ 2399 Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya was found overturned, severely damaged. The vehicle carried six passengers. Two were declared dead at the scene: 20-year-old driver Khemchat Boonsing and 23-year-old Supachai Nopsri. Four others were injured, and later it was reported that 21-year-old Wisut Phuengpae, one of the injured taken to Pathum Thani Hospital, died subsequently.
About 30 meters away, a blue MSX motorcycle with license plate 1กฌ 1404 Nakhon Nayok was found submerged in water by the roadside. The driver, 21-year-old Kittiphan Tiptiamphong, was found dead. His female passenger, his girlfriend, was injured and rushed to hospital by authorities.
According to 19-year-old Nattakamon Noisard, a surviving passenger in the car, she and five friends were returning home to Lat Bua Luang after playing water in the Sombatburi area of Nonthaburi. At the accident spot, a completely dark road without street lights, they saw the motorcycle swerving closely ahead, causing the driver to brake too late and collide violently, losing control and flipping over several times.
Police documented the scene for evidence and plan to conduct detailed interviews with the injured. They will also examine nearby CCTV footage to determine the exact cause before releasing the deceased to their families for traditional funeral rites.
Additionally, initial investigations at the scene showed signs of a collision with the motorcycle starting from the entrance of Na Mai Subdistrict Administrative Organization, with car parts found along the way. It is believed the car was speeding on the long, unlit road when it clipped the motorcycle driven by Kittiphan and his girlfriend. The impact threw the motorcycle driver into a roadside ditch, resulting in his death, while the girlfriend was thrown off and injured. The car, likely traveling fast, continued past the point of collision before veering off into a ditch and flipping onto the roadside road, suffering extensive damage. Further investigation will determine the exact cause. The bodies of the three deceased were handed to the Ruamkatanyu Foundation to be sent to the Institute of Forensic Science, Ministry of Justice, for detailed autopsies to establish the causes of death.
