
A dramatic fire broke out involving a Lexus car in the middle of the motorway, with intense flames consuming the entire vehicle until only wreckage remained. Officials are currently investigating the cause.
At 03:08 GMT+7 on 14 Apr 2026, the emergency hotline 199 received a report of a car fire near Soi Motorway 38 on the motorway at km 6+400, in Prawet district, Bangkok. Firefighters and rescue personnel from Prawet Fire Station rushed to the scene.
The incident occurred on a four-lane road heading into Bangkok. Flames were seen in the left traffic lane engulfing a white Lexus car with license plate 4ขว 1504 Bangkok. Firefighters extinguished the fire after about 15 minutes. The car was completely destroyed, leaving only charred remains. A woman sustained minor injuries and was given first aid before the wreckage was promptly moved out of the traffic lane.
Initial investigation found the car used gasoline as fuel. The cause of the fire could not be determined due to the extensive damage. Authorities are further questioning the driver and awaiting experts to conduct a detailed examination to conclusively determine the cause.
