The Meteorological Department issues the second summer storm warning, urging preparedness for thunderstorms and strong gusty winds beginning in the Northeast and East regions, then spreading to the Central region, Bangkok and its vicinity, and the North.
On 14 Apr 2026 GMT+7, the Meteorological Department announced the second alert for summer storms affecting upper Thailand from 16 to 20 Apr 2026.
Between 16 and 20 Apr 2026, upper Thailand will experience summer storms characterized by thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, and isolated hail. Some areas may also see lightning strikes, initially impacting the Northeast and East regions.
Following this, the Central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, as well as the North, will be affected. This is due to a high-pressure area or cold air mass from China extending over the South China Sea, strengthening the southern and southeastern winds over lower Northeast and East regions, while upper Thailand experiences hot to very hot weather.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to be cautious of summer storm hazards by avoiding open spaces, staying away from large trees, unstable structures, and advertising signs. Farmers should reinforce fruit trees and prepare to protect crops and livestock from potential damage, as well as maintain their health during this changing weather period.
