Pickup Truck Carrying Myanmar Workers Overturns on Songkran Holiday, Injuring 17

A pickup truck carrying Myanmar migrant workers returning from Songkran festivities lost control and overturned on a road in Kok Kruat Subdistrict, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, injuring 17 people. Police have detained the driver and filed charges.

At 12:10 on 15 April 2026 GMT+7, police officers from Pho Klang Police Station, Mueang District, Nakhon Ratchasima, received a report of a pickup truck overturning near PCS Panrai Factory, Ban Sao Hong, Village No. 3, Kok Kruat Subdistrict, and rushed to the scene.

The accident occurred on the outbound route from Nakhon Ratchasima city at kilometer marker 129 on Highway 2, Mittraphap Road, where a black Toyota pickup truck with license plate Phaw 3462 Khon Kaen lost control and overturned.The vehicle was lying on its side.Blocking a main traffic lane under the scorching sun, the scene revealed all the injured wereworkersof Myanmar nationality, totaling 17 people, crying out for help loudly.

Volunteers from Huk 31 Rescue Unit, Nakhon Ratchasima, and the Civil Defense Volunteers (Or Por Ror) of Kok Kruat Subdistrict mobilized to transport the injured to Sung Noen Hospital, Theprat Hospital, and Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital. Six were seriously injured, while the rest received treatment and were allowed to go home.

Investigation revealed that the pickup truck involved was carrying Myanmar migrant workers who had traveled from Chor Hor Subdistrict, Mueang District, to visit Wang Naen Waterfall in Sung Noen District during the Songkran holiday. While driving, the vehicle lost control and overturned. The driver, a Thai man approximately 40 years old, has been detained for questioning and charged according to legal procedures.
