Traffic on Mittraphap Road - Route 304 Increases in Afternoon as People Continue Returning to Bangkok

On the last day of Songkran, it was observed that people have begun steadily returning to Bangkok. Since the afternoon, traffic on Mittraphap Road and Route 304 has become dense, with expectations of a large increase tonight.

On 15 April 2026, this afternoon's traffic conditions on Mittraphap Road, Highway 2, near Non Sung District in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, showed many people beginning to return to Bangkok before the end of the long Songkran holiday, aiming to avoid traffic jams.

Traffic volume on Mittraphap Road has increased significantly near Bua Lai Intersection in Bua Lai District, Sida Intersection in Sida District, Ban Wat Intersection in Khong District, and Talad Khae Intersection in Than Prasat Subdistrict, Non Sung District. Consequently, officials from Nakhon Ratchasima Highway District 1 have closed U-turn points at these intersections to prevent congestion and slowdowns. It is expected that traffic volume will increase further this evening and throughout the night.

Meanwhile, on Route 304 from Nadee District heading toward Kabin Buri and Si Maha Phot Districts in Prachinburi Province, people have begun gradually returning to work both in eastern provinces and Bangkok Metropolitan Region. Traffic along this route has started to thicken intermittently, but vehicles can still travel at speeds around 80-120 km/h.

Upon inspection at a gas station, which is the first station onthe downhill route at Khao Thon, Bu Phram Subdistrict, Nadee District, it was found that travelers coming from their northeastern hometowns, passing through Khao Thon—a downhill area known for frequent accidents—have arrived safely. They stopped to rest and use restroom facilities before continuing their journey to work in the eastern region.

According to information from Prachinburi Highway Police, traffic on Route 304 was light since morning but began increasing in the afternoon. They anticipate a large number of people traveling from the Northeast in the late morning and arriving in Prachinburi Province from evening until early morning.
