Warning Issued for Summer Storm No. 6 as Several Provinces Prepare for Heavy Rain and Strong Winds

The Meteorological Department (TMD) issued a warning for the "summer storm" No. 6, urging several provinces to prepare for "heavy rain and strong gusty winds" and listing the provinces expected to be affected.

17 Apr 2026 GMT+7The Meteorological Department’s websiteissued a statement titled "Summer Storm in Upper Thailand (Effective through 20 Apr 2026) No. 6" stating that upper Thailand will experience summer storms characterized by thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, and hail in some areas, along with possible lightning strikes in certain locations. The storm will begin in the Northeast and Eastern regions first.

Subsequently, the Central region, including Bangkok and its metropolitan area, and the Northern region will be affected. This is due to a high-pressure system or cool air mass from China spreading over the South China Sea, causing stronger southerly and southeasterly winds over the lower Northeast, Eastern region, and upper Gulf of Thailand, while upper Thailand remains hot to very hot.

Residents in these areas are advised to take precautions against summer storm hazards by avoiding open spaces, staying away from large trees, unstable structures, and weak billboards. Farmers should reinforce fruit trees and prepare to prevent damage to crops and livestock, as well as take care of their health during this weather change.

The public is urged to follow announcements from the Meteorological Department and can access information on the department’s website at http://www.tmd.go.th or via the hotlines at 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, available 24 hours.
