Nan Governor Orders Urgent Aid and Compensation for Tragic Pickup Truck Skid Accident, Maximum Payment of 300,000 Baht

The Governor of Nan Province has assigned the Nan Provincial Justice Office to go on-site to assist and compensate the victims of the tragic accident "Huay Yen curve pickup truck skid" with payments up to 300,000 baht

Regarding the tragic accident in Nan Province where a pickup truck skidded off the road on the "Pua–Doi Phu Kha" highway in Pua District, resulting in nine deaths and numerous injuries, police are urgently investigating the cause, as previously reported.(Deeply sad: List of deceased in the tragic "Huay Yen curve pickup truck skid" accident in Nan Province)

Most recently, on 19 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Chainarong Wongyai, Governor of Nan Province, assigned the Nan Provincial Justice Office to rapidly provide assistance and compensation to victims and those affected by the incident, also informing them of their legal rights to assistance.

The criteria for assistance and compensation follow the Victim Compensation Act and the Compensation and Expenses for Defendants in Criminal Cases Act, with guidelines as follows.

Part 1: For victims, the committee will consider approving compensation according to these items.

• Medical expenses paid as incurred, up to 80,000 baht.
• Physical and psychological rehabilitation costs paid as incurred, up to 50,000 baht.
• Compensation for lost income calculated at the provincial minimum wage rate (not exceeding one year).
• Other damage compensation at the committee’s discretion, not exceeding 100,000 baht.
• In severe cases: Disability or loss of limbs: combined assistance not exceeding 300,000 baht.
• In cases of death: Total assistance not exceeding 300,000 baht (including funeral and dependency loss costs).

All considerations will strictly follow legal criteria and conditions. The Nan Provincial Justice Office affirms it will expedite full assistance to the victims to alleviate hardship and compensate for losses incurred.
