Severe Thunderstorm Warning No. 12: 26 Provinces Advised to Prepare for Heavy Rain and Hail

The Meteorological Department announces Severe Thunderstorm Warning No. 12, advising 26 provinces to prepare for heavy rain, strong winds, and some hail.


12 April 2026 GMT+7The Meteorological Department's websitehas issued a notice regarding"Severe Thunderstorm in Upper Thailand (effective until 20 April 2026) Warning No. 12."It states that thunderstorms can still occur in some areas of the northern, northeastern, and eastern regions, characterized by heavy rain, strong gusty winds, occasional hail, and possible lightning in some areas.

This is due to south and southeast winds bringing moisture from the Gulf of Thailand and South China Sea over the northeast, east regions, and upper Gulf of Thailand, while the weather remains hot to very hot across Thailand.

The public in upper Thailand is advised to beware of dangers from severe thunderstorms by avoiding open spaces, sheltering from large trees, weak structures, and billboards. Farmers should reinforce fruit trees and prepare to prevent damage to crops and livestock, and take care of their health during these weather changes.

Provinces expected to be affected by thunderstorms and strong gusty winds include:

  • Northern region: Nan, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun provinces.
  • Northeastern region: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Udon Thani, Mukdahan, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces.
  • Eastern region: Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces.
