22 April 2026The Meteorological Department's websitehas announced the "Thunderstorm in Upper Thailand (effective 23–25 April 2026) Second Warning". It states that from 23–25 April 2026, upper Thailand will experience thunderstorms characterized by heavy rain, strong gusts of wind, lightning, and hail in some areas. The storms will begin in the north, northeast, and east regions, followed by impacts in the central region, including Bangkok and its metropolitan area.
This is due to a high-pressure system or cold air mass from China spreading over the northeast and the South China Sea, while upper Thailand experiences generally hot to very hot weather.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to be cautious of thunderstorms by avoiding open spaces, staying away from large trees, unstable structures, and billboards. Farmers should reinforce fruit trees and prepare to protect crops and livestock from potential damage. Additionally, people should take care of their health during this changing weather period.
