Warning Issued for 56 Provinces Including Bangkok to Prepare for Summer Storms with Heavy Rain and Strong Winds from 23 to 25 April

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has warned 56 provinces across the North, Northeast, Central regions, and Bangkok to be on alert for "summer storms" that may bring thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail, and lightning from 23 to 25 April 2026.

On 23 April 2026 at 10:30 a.m., Mr. Theerapat Kachamat, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, stated that the Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command has been monitoring weather conditions and assessing risk factors. This follows the Meteorological Department's announcement regarding summer storms in the upper part of Thailand. Summer storms in the upper part of Thailand. (Effective from 23 to 25 April 2026) Announcement No. 2 (34/2569), issued on 22 April 2026 at 5:00 a.m., stated that a high-pressure system or cool air mass from the People's Republic of China will extend to cover the Northeast region and the South China Sea.

Meanwhile, upper Thailand will experience hot to very hot weather, causing summer storms in the North, Northeast, Central regions, including Bangkok and its vicinity. These storms will feature thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail, and possible lightning in some areas. The areas to monitor for thunderstorms and strong winds between 23 and 25 April 2026 are as follows.

23 April 2026.

  • In the North, 3 provinces: Nan, Uttaradit, and Phitsanulok.
  • In the Northeast, 6 provinces: Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, and Mukdahan.
  • In the Central region, 4 provinces: Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat.

24 April 2026.

  • In the North, 15 provinces: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Uttaradit, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Nakhon Sawan, and Uthai Thani.
  • In the Northeast, 19 provinces: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani.
  • In the Central region, 15 provinces: Suphan Buri, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Lopburi, Saraburi, Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, Trat, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan.

  • In the North, 13 provinces: Lamphun, Lampang, Phrae, Nan, Uttaradit, Tak, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, Phichit, Phetchabun, Nakhon Sawan, and Uthai Thani.
  • In the Northeast, 15 provinces: Loei, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Mukdahan, Roi Et, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani.
  • In the Central region, 17 provinces: Kanchanaburi, Suphan Buri, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Lopburi, Saraburi, Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, Trat, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan.

The Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command, under the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, has coordinated to notify 56 provinces in the North, Northeast, Central regions, and Bangkok, as well as disaster prevention centers in risk areas, to monitor and prepare for the hazardous conditions during this period.

They emphasized closely monitoring the situation, weather conditions, and disaster trends, coordinating with local administrative organizations to warn residents in risk areas in advance, and preparing disaster machinery and operational teams to respond immediately and assist residents in affected areas.

Residents in risk areas are advised to closely follow weather forecasts and official information, strictly adhere to warnings, ensure their homes and buildings are structurally sound, avoid open spaces under large trees, billboards, or unstable structures to prevent injury from falling objects, and be cautious of lightning. Farmers should secure tree supports and shelters to protect crops from damage.

Finally, the public can track warnings via the "THAI DISASTER ALERT" app. Those affected by disasters can report incidents and request help through the Line app "DDPM Incident Report 1784" by adding the Line ID @1784DDPM or by calling the 24-hour safety hotline 1784 for coordination of assistance.
