Fifth Announcement Warns of Summer Storms: Check List of Provinces Preparing for Heavy Rain

The Meteorological Department issued its fifth announcement warning provinces at risk of heavy rain from "summer storms" There will be thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail, and localized heavy rain during 24-25 April 2026.

It was reported that the websiteof the Meteorological Departmentannounced the fifth bulletin on summer storms in upper Thailand, stating that between 24–25 April 2026, upper Thailand will experience summer storms characterized by thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail, and localized heavy rain, with possible lightning in some areas. This is due to a high-pressure system or cold air mass from China spreading over the northeast region and the South China Sea, while upper Thailand experiences generally hot to very hot weather.

The public in the affected areas is advised to be cautious of dangers from summer storms by avoiding open spaces, large trees, unstable structures, and billboards. Farmers should reinforce fruit trees and prepare to protect crops and livestock from possible damage. People are also encouraged to take care of their health during these changing weather conditions.   • Northern region: Lampang, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Phichit, and Phetchabun provinces.
  • Northeastern region: Loei, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Maha Sarakham, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Si Sa Ket, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces.
  • Central region: Nakhon Sawan and Lopburi provinces.

Moderate risk

  • Northern region: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Lamphun, Tak, and Kamphaeng Phet provinces.
  • Northeastern region: Nong Khai and Bueng Kan provinces.
  • Central region: Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Saraburi, Kanchanaburi, and Ratchaburi provinces.
  • Eastern region: Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces.
