
A rare hawksbill sea turtle was found stranded on Kamala Beach, weighing about 2-3 kilograms. Lifeguards quickly assisted and coordinated with agencies for its care.
On 25 Apr 2026 at about 13:35, Phuket's Kamala Police Station received a report from the public that a sea turtle had washed ashore in front of Kamala Beach, Kamala Subdistrict, Kathu District.
After receiving the report, officials inspected the area with beach lifeguards and found a hawksbill sea turtle weighing about 2-3 kilograms in a weak condition. They carefully helped bring it out of the water.
Initially, the turtle was moved to a lifeguard tent for preliminary care while authorities contacted the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources to take over for treatment and rehabilitation. They are currently awaiting the arrival of the officials.
Officials urge the public and tourists to immediately notify authorities if they find injured rare marine animals and to avoid handling or moving them to ensure the animals' safety and proper rescue procedures.
