The Meteorological Department announced today's weather, warning the public to be cautious of "thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, and heavy rain."
26 April 2026 GMT+7The Meteorological Department's websiteprovides a 24-hour weather forecast stating, "Rain will begin to decrease in upper Thailand, but thunderstorms, some strong gusty winds, and heavy rainfall may still occur in some northern areas. This is due to a high-pressure system or cold air mass covering upper Thailand and the South China Sea, causing southerly and southeasterly winds to bring moisture from the Gulf of Thailand and the South China Sea over the northeast, north, central regions including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the east, though with weakening intensity.
Meanwhile, upper Thailand is experiencing hot weather. Residents in these areas are advised to be cautious of possible thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, and heavy rain, and to take care of their health during this changing weather. The south will have some thunderstorms due to easterly and southeasterly winds covering the Gulf of Thailand, the south, and the Andaman Sea.
Furthermore, from 28 April to 1 May 2026 GMT+7, upper Thailand is expected to experience summer storms characterized by thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, and hail in some places, with possible lightning. These will begin in the northeast, north, and east regions, with central Thailand including Bangkok and its vicinity affected later. This is because another high-pressure system or cold air mass from China will spread over the South China Sea and the northeast, while upper Thailand remains hot.
At present, dust particles in the north and upper central regions have accumulated beyond safe levels due to a high density of hot spots in the north and nearby areas, exceeding the air's ventilation capacity. The public is advised to avoid open areas and wear N95 masks for safety when outdoors."
