Chaos on Plane as Police Detain Man Saying Bomb Alert Officials Conduct Thorough Checks

Chaos erupted on the entire flight as police detained a man who said "Bomb alert" on the plane, prompting officials to conduct thorough checks. He admitted he was joking out of recklessness.

At 17:20 on 26 Apr 2026 GMT+7, police at Nuea Khlong Station in Krabi Province received a report from an airline staff member operating the Krabi-Suvarnabhumi route. The male passenger reportedly said "Bomb alert" on the plane preparing to depart Krabi International Airport, causing the captain to order a temporary flight suspension, bring the plane to the gate, evacuate all passengers, and remove all passenger luggage from the aircraft.

Officials then coordinated with the EOD unit of Krabi Provincial Police to inspect the entire aircraft and thoroughly check all passenger baggage. The operation took several hours, and initially, no suspicious items were found as claimed.

Subsequently, police detained the 45-year-old man from Chonburi Province, identified as the passenger who made the remark. Interviews with flight staff revealed that while the passenger was holding his suitcase onboard, he placed it on the overhead rack.

A flight attendant came to help stow the luggage properly. The man then said to her, "Slide carefully, watch out for the bomb." The attendant asked him to repeat, and he said the same. This behavior fits the description of prohibited speech onboard aircraft. The staff reported this to the pilot, who informed airport authorities, and the Nuea Khlong Police Station was notified. Police stationed at the airport arrived, halted the flight, and coordinated with the bomb disposal unit to examine all baggage, focusing on the suspect's belongings.

The man was then taken to the Nuea Khlong police for investigation and charged with knowingly sending false information that causes alarm to people at the airport or onboard the aircraft during flight. This violates the Air Navigation Offenses Act B.E. 2558 (2015), punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment or a fine up to 200,000 baht, or both. The suspect confessed he spoke jokingly out of recklessness.
