On 27 April 2026, the websiteof the Meteorological Departmentannounced the first warning on summer storms in upper Thailand (effective 29 April – 1 May 2026).
It stated that from 29 April to 1 May 2026, upper Thailand will experience summer storms characterized bythunderstorms and strong gusty winds,hail, and heavy rain in some places, with possible lightning in some areas. It will start in the North, Northeast, and East regions first. The Central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, will be affected later due to high-pressure areas or cold air masses from China spreading over the Northeast and the South China Sea, while upper Thailand experiences hot to very hot weather.
People in the affected areas are advised to beware of dangers from summer storms by avoiding open spaces, staying away from large trees, unstable structures, and billboards. Farmers should reinforce fruit trees and prepare to protect agricultural productsand livestock, as well as take care of their health during these changing weather conditions.
