CKPower Wins Two Awards Reflecting Innovation in Resource and Environmental Management

CKPower won two awards at the Thailand-Japan Decarbonization Award 2026 reflecting its potential in innovation for resource and environmental management

On 29 April 2026, it was reported that CK Power Public Company Limited (CKPower or CKP), one of the largest renewable energy producers in the region with one of the lowest carbon footprints, won two awards at the Thailand-Japan Decarbonization Award (TJDA) 2026. The Golden Award was for its waste and wastewater management project in the energy production process at Bang Pa-in Cogeneration Power Plant, and the Silver Award was for the Waste to Value project "Fireflies for Conservation, Protection, and Restoration of Natural Resources and Environment" at the Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Plant. These awards are organized by the Thailand-Japan Technology Promotion Association (TJTPA), aiming to promote and honor organizations that excel in developing and applying technology and innovation to concretely reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

In this event, Ms. Tuangporn Boonyasaranan, Assistant Managing Director of Communications and Corporate Sustainability Management, and Mr. Anuwat Sasakul, Operations Manager, represented the company to receive the honors from Professor Dr. Supachai Pathumnakul, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, at the Grand Hall, BITEC Exhibition and Convention Center, Bangna, Bangkok.

Mr. Thanawat Treewisawavet, Managing Director of CK Power Public Company Limited, said CKPower is committed to advancing long-term electricity production processes through appropriate technology and innovation applied in environmental management, energy management, and climate change adaptation, alongside developing knowledge and personnel capabilities. The company emphasizes nurturing innovators and promoting an innovation culture within the organization to encourage employees to participate in developing and expanding methods to reduce greenhouse gas emissions concretely. This approach not only improves operational efficiency and resource utilization but also creates positive impacts on the environment and communities, strengthens energy security, and delivers sustainable value to stakeholders over the long term.

The two projects awarded at the TJDA are as follows:

1. Waste and wastewater management project in the energy production process at Bang Pa-in Cogeneration Power Plant focuses on efficient water resource management. It emphasizes managing lubricant oil use to reduce waste and improving cooling system efficiency by adjusting chemical controls to increase water recycling. This project reduced water consumption by over 743 million liters and saved more than 19.5 million baht in costs.

Additionally, it cut lubricant oil use by over 28,000 liters, saving more than 2.6 million baht, and importantly reduced greenhouse gas emissions by over 95,000 kilograms of CO2 equivalent. The long-term plan is to expand this to public utility systems to further improve efficiency and reduce waste.

2. The Waste to Value project "Fireflies for Conservation, Protection, and Restoration"

of natural resources and environment at the Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Plant transforms organic food waste from the plant into soil conditioning materials and promotes environmentally friendly agriculture while educating youth and community members about environmental issues. This project reduces carbon dioxide emissions from waste burning by more than 3,840 kilograms of CO2 equivalent. It produces up to 2,665 kilograms of soil conditioner annually, which is distributed to surrounding communities, saving them over 72,900 baht per year in fertilizer costs. Going forward, the plan is to expand local collaboration networks to drive community innovations that maintain environmental balance and support chemical-free farming, emphasizing the private sector’s role in creating social value.

Winning these two awards demonstrates CKPower's proven capabilities and results, aligning with the TJDA 2026 criteria by developing and applying technology and knowledge to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It also promotes employee participation in raising awareness of energy conservation and environmental care throughout the business value chain, moving towards the goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
