Storm Warning No. 5: Heavy Rain, Strong Winds, and Hail Forecast for At-Risk Provinces

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of a "summer storm." Warning No. 5 is in effect until 1 May. Check which provinces are at risk of heavy rain, strong gusts, and hail.

On 29 April 2026, the websiteof the Meteorological Departmentreleased Storm Warning No. 5 for upper Thailand, stating that

from 29 April to 1 May 2026, the northern, northeastern, eastern regions, and the eastern and lower central areas will be affected first. Bangkok and its vicinity will be impacted later. The storm will bring thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail, and heavy rain in some areas, with possible lightning. This is due to a high-pressure system or cold air mass from China extending over the northeast and South China Sea, while upper Thailand experiences hot to very hot conditions.

Residents in these areas are advised to be cautious of the summer storm by avoiding open spaces, large trees, weak structures, and billboards. Farmers should reinforce fruit trees and prepare to protect crops and livestock from possible damage. People should also take care of their health during the weather changes.   • North: Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun provinces.
  • Northeast: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Sisaket, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces.
  • East: Chachoengsao, Chonburi, and Rayong provinces.

Moderate risk

  • North: Chiang Mai, Lampang, Phrae, and Sukhothai provinces.
  • Northeast: Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Buriram, and Surin provinces.
  • Central: Nakhon Sawan, Lopburi, Saraburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Nakhon Pathom, Kanchanaburi, and Ratchaburi provinces, including Bangkok and vicinity.
  • East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces.
