Villagers in Bong Ti have found an orphaned serow separated from its herd in Sai Yok National Park and are urgently taking it for care before returning it to the forest.
On 30 Apr 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Rachan Buatri, Director of the Protected Area Regional Office 3 (Ban Pong), stated that Mr. Peer Phuangmali, Head of Sai Yok National Park, reported receiving information from Mr. Sattawat Luk-in, headman of Bong Ti subdistrict, that villagers found an orphaned serow near Lower Bong Ti Village, Moo 2, Bong Ti Subdistrict, Sai Yok District, Kanchanaburi Province. There is concern that this protected wild animal may not survive on its own in the wild.
After receiving the report, park officials were promptly assigned to investigate the area. They found a young male serow in good condition but still small. They then coordinated with the Director of Wildlife Conservation, Protected Area Regional Office 3 (Ban Pong), to plan initial care measures.
Most recently, officials transferred the young serow to Khao Son Wildlife Breeding Station for care and rehabilitation to restore its health fully. Once the serow is ready and able to survive independently, officials will release it back into a safe natural forest area.
