Industry police and administrative officers jointly raided a factory in Plaeng Yao District to expand the investigation into a lithium battery truck fire. No irregularities were found. Lithium batteries were initially seized as evidence for further investigation, while the factory manager denied the allegations.
Regarding the fire incident involving a truck on Thepharak Road (Bangna–Trad) near km. 40+500 on 3 May 2026 at approximately 19:30, the fire was intense due to the lithium batteries, causing high heat and continuous explosions. Flames from the incident affected parts of the concrete surface on the Burapha Withi Expressway. Subsequently, the Expressway Authority of Thailand ordered engineers and expert technicians to inspect the damage and carry out necessary repairs. They confirmed that the Burapha Withi Expressway could resume normal operations, as previously reported.
At 15:00 on 4 May 2026, Pol. Col. Somchai Yusawat, Deputy Commander of the Chachoengsao Provincial Police, along with officers from Bang Pakong and Plaeng Yao police stations, presented a court warrant to a scrap purchasing factory in Plaeng Yao District. This followed leads from the transport department indicating that the truck involved in the fire had loaded cargo from this factory, destined for Samut Sakhon Province.
Initially, during the joint operation involving police, industry officials, the Factory Department, and administrative officers inspecting the factory premises, no irregularities or lithium batteries were found. Therefore, lithium batteries seized as evidence from the fire scene were piled up and confiscated. The factory manager denied the allegations.
Later, Ms. Wilailak Jeensri, head of the Industrial Factory Group and officials from the Chachoengsao Industrial Factory Department, went to Plaeng Yao Police Station to file an official report, seizing evidence for examination and proceeding according to legal procedures.
