At 16:30 on 4 May 2026, the Facebook page Fire & Rescue Thailand reported that lightning struck the lid of a crude oil storage tank at a refinery in Thung Sukhla Subdistrict, Si Racha District, Chonburi Province, causing a blaze in the evening. The report stated that the fire at the oil storage tank in the refinery area of Thung Sukhla, Si Racha, Chonburi, has now been brought under control by officials.
      
Recently, Thai Oil Public Company Limited issued a statement confirming that a lightning strike hit a crude oil storage tank inside their refinery, causing a fire. The company has controlled the fire, with no injuries or further impacts reported.

On 4 May 2026, at approximately 16:30, lightning struck the lid of a crude oil storage tank within the refinery premises of Thai Oil Public Company Limited in Chonburi Province. This caused a small fire on the tank lid. The company's firefighting team quickly brought the situation under control within a short time. There were no injuries and no impact on the surrounding community or environment. The situation has now returned to normal. Damage assessment is ongoing, but the incident did not affect the tank's structural integrity. The company is able to continue production as usual.
