MP Manoporn Charoensri Decodes Nakhon Phanoms DNA, Showcases Citys Charm to Bangkok Audience

Manoporn Charoensri decoded the DNA of Nakhon Phanom's identity, joining forces with the Community Development Department, Chamber of Commerce, government and private sectors, and the community to organize activities showcasing Nakhon Phanom's charm to Bangkok audiences. This is part of a city identity creation and marketing project based on the 5 Must-Do experiences essential when visiting Nakhon Phanom, aiming to boost the economy, trade, tourism, and elevate Nakhon Phanom to a major city.

Ms. Manoporn Charoensri, Member of Parliament for Nakhon Phanom's second district from the Pheu Thai Party and former Deputy Minister of Transport, revealed progress on the city identity and marketing project under the 5 Must-Do framework, essential for visitors to Nakhon Phanom. The initiative began from efforts during the cabinet meeting held in Nakhon Phanom in April 2025 under the Pheu Thai government, leading to a joint meeting of the public-private committee (GORO) to address economic issues. This spurred the push for creating Nakhon Phanom's city identity through cooperation between government, private sector, and community. Mr. Thanapat Teekathananon, known as Siea Big, a Thai Chamber of Commerce committee member and chairman of the Upper Northeastern Chamber group 2, represents the private sector driving the project, which received nearly 20 million baht in government funding via the Community Development Department.

Recently, the Community Development Department, together with the Chamber of Commerce and other government and private agencies in Nakhon Phanom province, collaborated to implement the city identity and marketing project under the 5 Must-Do theme. They organized promotional activities showcasing Nakhon Phanom's charm to Bangkok audiences at Samyan Mitrtown shopping center in Pathumwan district, Bangkok, from 6 to 10 May 2026. The event was officially opened by Mr. Siam Sirimongkol, Director-General of the Community Development Department. It impressed the public and tourists with displays of contemporary cultural and traditional performances from diverse ethnic groups in Nakhon Phanom, reflecting the city's unique identity and promoting economic, trade, and tourism growth to establish Nakhon Phanom as a key city, alongside sales of local specialty products.

MP Manoporn Charoensri added that some may wonder what the identity or DNA of Nakhon Phanom entails. It involves decoding the city's unique cultural and traditional distinctions, including designs inspired by local lifestyles, architecture, and sacred landmarks from past to present. These are expressed through fonts, colors derived from brick hues, river waters, nature, and golden faith tones, rendered as graphic symbols. These symbols are developed and incorporated into various products and traditional woven and handicraft patterns to create attractive selling points for Nakhon Phanom. This fosters interest and recognition among locals and tourists, including logos for all 12 districts to reinforce the city's DNA identity.

Additionally, the project creates tourism selling points incorporated into a year-round travel calendar, linking tourism across all 12 districts. It promotes activities, renowned shops, restaurants, hotels, and specialty products through various media channels, highlighting each district's unique appeal to attract locals and tourists. This is part of Nakhon Phanom's tourism marketing emphasizing the 5 Must-Do experiences when visiting.

These 5 Must-Do experiences include: 1. Visit – enjoy the beauty along the Mekong River; 2. Eat – savor exquisite local cuisine; 3. Shop – buy newly designed OTOP products; 4. Mu – engage in auspicious rituals; and 5. Rest – relax in a slow-life atmosphere. The project is ready to accommodate tourists year-round, stimulating the economy, trade, and tourism. There is confidence that Nakhon Phanom is fully prepared to welcome visitors, boosting the community's economy.
