
The Meteorological Department issued its 6th weather bulletin today, warning of unstable weather affecting the upper part of Thailand, including Bangkok, with increased rain, strong gusts of wind, and heavy rainfall in some areas, lasting until 10 May.
On 8 May 2026, the Meteorological Department released bulletin number 6 (55/2569) regarding unstable weather in Thailand, effective until 10 May 2026. It stated that the northern, northeastern, eastern, central regions, including Bangkok and its vicinity, will see increased thunderstorms with strong gusts and heavy rain in some locations. Following this, temperatures will ease due to high pressure or a cold air mass from China spreading over the northeast and South China Sea. Additionally, southerly and southeasterly winds will bring moisture from the Gulf of Thailand and South China Sea covering the upper part of the country.
Easterly winds covering the southern region and the Gulf of Thailand will strengthen, causing heavy to very heavy rain in some parts of the south.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to be cautious of dangers from thunderstorms and strong gusts by avoiding open spaces under large trees, unstable structures, and billboards. They should also beware of heavy rain and accumulated rainfall that might cause flash floods and flash floods. Farmers are urged to reinforce fruit trees and prepare to protect crops and livestock from potential damage, while also taking care of their health during this weather change.
Northern Region Hot during the day with thunderstorms covering 60% of the area, accompanied by strong gusts and heavy rain in some areas, including Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Sukhothai, Tak, Phichit, Kamphaeng Phet, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun provinces. Minimum temperatures range from 21 to 26 degrees Celsius, maximum temperatures from 30 to 39 degrees Celsius, with southerly winds at 10-15 km/h.
Northeastern Region Thunderstorms cover 60% of the area, with strong gusts and heavy rain in some locations, including Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Nong Bua Lamphu, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Kalasin, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Mukdahan, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buri Ram, Surin, Si Sa Ket, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces. Minimum temperatures range from 22 to 26 degrees Celsius, maximum from 33 to 36 degrees Celsius, with southeasterly winds at 10-20 km/h.
Central Region Hot during the day with thunderstorms covering 40% of the area, accompanied by strong gusts and heavy rain in some places, including Uthai Thani, Nakhon Sawan, Lopburi, Saraburi, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Songkhram, and Samut Sakhon provinces. Minimum temperatures range from 24 to 26 degrees Celsius, maximum from 36 to 38 degrees Celsius, with southeasterly winds at 10-20 km/h.
Eastern Region Thunderstorms cover 60% of the area with strong gusts and heavy rain in some areas, including Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Chachoengsao, Sa Kaeo, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces. Minimum temperatures range from 24 to 26 degrees Celsius, maximum from 31 to 36 degrees Celsius, with southeasterly winds at 15-30 km/h. Seas have waves about 1 meter high, rising above 2 meters in areas with thunderstorms.
Southern Region (East Coast) Thunderstorms cover 60% of the area with heavy to very heavy rain in some places, including Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat provinces. Minimum temperatures range from 23 to 26 degrees Celsius, maximum from 32 to 37 degrees Celsius, with easterly winds at 15-30 km/h.
