Kaeng Krachan National Park has released rare images of black panthers mating by the roadside, an indicator of forest health. This confirms that wildlife feels safe and is not disturbed by human activities.
On 9 May 2026, Mr. Mongkol Chaiphakdee, head of Kaeng Krachan National Park, revealed an exciting video clip recorded by Thai tourists traveling within the park. The footage shows two large black panthers playfully interacting and naturally exhibiting mating behavior by the roadside, thrilling those who witnessed it.
Mr. Mongkol stated that such an event is extremely rare to observe in the wild. Normally, black panthers are highly cautious animals that live deep in the forest. Their emergence to display mating behavior along a travel route is an important indicator confirming that wildlife feels safe and undisturbed by human activities.
"This behavior reflects the success in managing Kaeng Krachan National Park as a World Heritage site. We strive to maintain a balance between tourism and conservation, enabling wildlife to trust the environment and freely express natural behaviors even near road areas," the park chief said.
Additionally, the park requests tourists to strictly comply with regulations, especially by not exceeding speed limits and avoiding loud noises that could disturb wildlife, in order to preserve this safe habitat for rare animals.
