Speedboat Love Andaman Catches Fire While Anchored in Ao Makham Bay, Nearly Destroyed

A fire broke out on the speedboat of the well-known tour company "Love Andaman" while it was anchored in Ao Makham Bay, Phuket. Nearly the entire vessel was destroyed. Authorities are urgently investigating the cause.

At 17:25 on 10 May 2026, Police Colonel Somsak Thongkliang, Chief of Wisit Police Station, was notified by the Phuket Tourist Assistance Center (Kaimeuk Center) of a fire on a speedboat anchored in Ao Makham near Wisit Panwa Pier on Sakdidej Road, Wisit Subdistrict, Mueang Phuket District. He then instructed the criminal investigation team at Wisit Police Station to deploy rapid response patrol officers to inspect the scene alongside fire trucks from the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization and personnel from the Royal Thai Navy Region 3.

At the scene, the speedboat was anchored about 200 meters from the pier in the middle of Ao Makham Bay, with flames rapidly engulfing the vessel. Firefighters from the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization, supervised by staff at the Phuket Tourist Assistance Center (Kaimeuk Center) in Chalong Bay, Mueang Phuket, arrived to extinguish the fire. It took about 20 minutes to fully control the blaze. The boat was left with only its fiberglass frame floating on the water's surface. There were no reported injuries or fatalities. The cause and extent of damage are under investigation by the boat owner and Wisit Police authorities.

Initial inquiries revealed that earlier that day, the "Love Andaman" speedboat had taken tourists to Phi Phi Island, Krabi Province. After completing its mission in the afternoon, the captain anchored the boat at the location, shutting down all systems before going ashore. Then at 17:25, a fire broke out on the boat for unknown reasons. The Forensic Science Division is working with Wisit Police investigators to thoroughly determine the cause.
