At 02:10 on 11 May 2026, Police Lieutenant Thanakorn Rattanawilai, Deputy Investigation Officer at Bang Sao Thong Police Station, received a report of a fire in an electric vehicle charging cabinet inside a company located in Soi Wat Buaroi, Bang Sao Thong Subdistrict, Bang Sao Thong District, Samut Prakan. Fire trucks from Bang Sao Thong Subdistrict Administrative Organization were dispatched to the scene.
At the scene in front of the factory, which serves as a vehicle repair center, flames were seen burning at the electric vehicle charging cabinet. Firefighters from Bang Sao Thong Subdistrict Administrative Organization sprayed water to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading. The fire was brought under control quickly. The charging cabinet was completely destroyed by the fire, and a small four-wheeled truck parked for charging suffered minor damage. No injuries were reported.
According to Mr. Narong Siklai, 64, a security guard at the factory, the site is a concrete plant repair factory. At the time of the fire, no workers were present as the shift had ended around 10 p.m. He was on duty at the inner guard post when he heard a single explosion sound. He was informed by the guard at the front post that flames had appeared at the electric vehicle charging cabinet. He quickly called workers resting in their dormitory to help extinguish the fire using chemical fire extinguishers. However, the fire spread rapidly, prompting him to call the emergency number 191.
The preliminary cause is suspected to be an electrical short circuit. A thorough examination is needed to determine whether the short circuit originated from the electric vehicle charging device. Police will conduct further investigation to identify the true cause.
