On 11 May 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that after Thaksin Shinawatra was granted parole and released from Klong Prem prison, he went to have an electronic monitoring bracelet fitted at Probation Office 1 before arriving at Ban Chan Song La. Paethongtarn Shinawatra accompanied him in the car, followed by several vehicles carrying his associates.
At Ban Chan Song La, a group of Red Shirt supporters gathered to offer their encouragement. Some held photos taken with Thaksin, while others displayed cloth banners with welcoming messages.
When Thaksin's Mercedes-Maybach, license plate Phor Thor 4444 Bangkok, arrived at Ban Chan Song La—the designated parole residence—he rolled down the window. He had changed from a white shirt to a blue-striped one and leaned out to greet the Red Shirts, saying, "I've been in hibernation; now I can't remember anything."
When asked by the Red Shirts about his health, Thaksin replied, "Very well."
Reporters noted that afterward, the Shinawatra family planned to have their first family lunch together.
Under the terms of Thaksin Shinawatra's parole, he must wear an electronic monitoring bracelet until his sentence ends on 9 September 2026. He must also report regularly, is prohibited from leaving the area without permission, must engage in honest work, avoid involvement with drugs, weapons, or explosives, and comply with all orders from probation officers.
