
Urgent assistance is being provided to two employees of a company in Chanthaburi Province who were injured in a workplace accident. The employer has been instructed to submit documents to ensure the workers receive benefits from the Social Security Compensation Fund.
On 11 May 2024 GMT+7,Ms. Kanjana Phunkaew,Secretary-General of the Social Security Office (SSO) said that following the accident inside the warehouse of P. Siriphan Chanthaburi Company in Salaeng Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chanthaburi Province, where steel sheets were being moved by a 10-wheel truck causing two male employees to be injured, she expressed concern for the injured workers. She instructed Ms. Sumalee Kokaewkasera of the Chanthaburi Social Security Office and officials to investigate the facts and expedite assistance to the injured workers so they could promptly receive benefits from the Compensation Fund. Upon investigation, both injured employees are staff of P. Siriphan Chanthaburi Company, a construction contractor. At the time of the accident, Mr. Wisan Thontan suffered injuries to both legs, including fractures requiring surgery and metal plating. The other injured worker, Mr. Anucha Urumphannon, sustained a head injury. Both were initially admitted to Bangkok Chanthaburi Hospital and later transferred to Phra Pokklao Hospital, where they are under close medical care.
The Chanthaburi Social Security Office has coordinated with the employer to urgently submit the Accident Notification Form (GT.16) to ensure the workers fully receive benefits from the Compensation Fund as stipulated by law. Workers injured at work are entitled to coverage including actual necessary medical expenses as defined by law, compensation at 70% of wages during prescribed sick leave, and benefits in cases of limb loss or disability according to legal criteria.
The Secretary-General added that the Social Security Office will closely monitor the situation and is fully prepared to support the insured workers involved in the accident to ensure they receive all legal benefits. This support aims to provide security in livelihood, protect workers’ rights, and ensure fairness and maximum benefits in every case. The Social Security Office extends its concern to the injured workers and their families and confirms ongoing close care under the rights of the Compensation Fund.
