
A fire broke out at a commercial building housing an electric motorcycle dealership in Ang Thong province, damaging over 60 motorcycles. Officials are rushing to determine the cause.
At 02:00 GMT+7 on 12 May 2026, Police Lieutenant Chainanet Suporn, deputy investigator at Wiset Chai Chan Police Station, received a report of a fire at a commercial building selling electric motorcycles in Village No. 7, Wiset-Phak Hai Road, Sala Chao Rong Thong Subdistrict, Wiset Chai Chan District, Ang Thong Province. He immediately proceeded to the scene with fire trucks from local government units including one from Pai Chamsin Subdistrict Administrative Organization, three from Wiset Chai Chan Municipality, one from Sala Chao Rong Thong Subdistrict Administrative Organization, one each from Tha Chang and Bang Jak municipalities, and one electric fire truck from the Provincial Electricity Authority, along with volunteer rescue teams from Ruamkatanyu Foundation.
At the scene was a commercial building selling electric motorcycles. No occupants were inside at the time. Flames were actively burning when authorities arrived, who then collaborated to spray water and control the fire. It took about 50 minutes to contain the blaze. No injuries or deaths were reported. Approximately 60 electric motorcycles and numerous spare parts were damaged. Officials have coordinated with Ang Thong Provincial Forensics to investigate the true cause of the fire according to legal procedures.
Mr. Sommai Norasingh, 61, who lives in the adjoining building, recounted that he was working late repairing vehicles for customers when he heard a noise. Upon checking, he saw the fire engulfing the neighboring building. Initially, he used a fire extinguisher to try to control the flames, shouted to alert neighbors for help, and called emergency services. Firefighters soon arrived and joined efforts to douse the fire.
