
A speeding motorcycle crashed off a curve and became lodged in a tree about two meters high, with the engine still running and the turn signal blinking, while the rider was thrown off and died. The rider was identified as a resident of a conflict-affected refugee camp in Mae Hong Son.
A reporter said that yesterday (11 May 2026), Police Lieutenant Warawit Amponprathan, the duty investigator at Tha Ta Fang Police Station, Mae Sariang District, Mae Hong Son Province, received a report of a motorcycle losing control and crashing off a curve on Highway 1194 Mae Sariang-Mae Sam Laep, near Kiew Lom, Ban Huai Pho, Village No. 6, Mae Yom Subdistrict, Mae Sariang District, Mae Hong Son. He and his team proceeded to investigate.
At the scene, a red Honda Dream motorcycle without license plates was found stuck about two meters high in a tree. The engine was still running and the right turn signal was blinking. Nearby lay the body of a middle-aged man wearing a navy blue short-collar shirt, gray long pants, and carrying a shoulder bag, who was dead. The duty doctor from Mae Sariang Hospital was called to perform a post-mortem, and the body was taken to Mae Sariang Hospital.
Initial inquiries revealed that the man was from the conflict-affected refugee camp at Ban Mae La Oon, Hamlet 9, Sob Moei District, Mae Hong Son Province. Authorities are currently trying to locate his relatives. There were no signs of collision with other vehicles at the scene, and it is believed he lost control and crashed off the curve on his own.
