Royal Gazette Announces 8 Areas Where Alcohol Sales and Consumption Are Prohibited Effective Today

The Royal Gazette website has issued a declaration specifying eight areas where the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Exceptions apply to designated areas, with the regulation effective from today.

Reporters state that the Royal Gazette website published an announcement from the Alcohol Control Committee regarding designated places or areas where selling or consuming alcohol is prohibited, covering eight locations effective from today.

1.No one is permitted to sell alcoholic beverages on roads, on vehicles, or inside vehicles on roads.Additionally, no one may consume alcohol on roads while driving or as a passenger inside or on vehicles.

2.The sale of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in premises or areas belonging to state enterprises and other government agencies, except in designated shops or clubs.Similarly, consumption of alcohol is banned in these locations, except in personal quarters, clubs, or traditional events (this announcement does not apply to the Excise Department).

6.Selling alcohol is prohibited in areas managed or used by government, state enterprises, or other government agencies,except in designated shops or clubs; consumption is also banned except in personal quarters, clubs, or traditional banquets.

8.Alcohol sales and consumption are prohibited at railway stations or on trains on railway tracks,under laws governing railways and highways, except in designated areas for special events in the air-conditioned hall of Bangkok railway station, which have screening and necessary measures to maintain social order, public safety, and restrict access to alcohol by children and youth, with permission from the Minister of Public Health for those specific events.
