Cambodian Soldiers Fire 11 Shots Along Or Samet Line Thai Forces Fire 2 Warning Shots, Maintain 24-Hour Vigilance

Cambodian soldiers fired 11 shots along the 'Or Samet' line, likely as a frontline check. Thai forces fired 2 warning shots after spotting foreigners near the barbed wire and have maintained continuous 24-hour vigilance.

At 18:40 on 13 May 2026, the 2nd Army Region received reports from the Suranaree unit that Cambodian soldiers fired a total of 11 shots at various points along the Or Samet area. The incident occurred at dusk as the weather turned cloudy and rain was approaching.

Reports stated the firing began near Hill 278 east of Chong Chom, then continued down towards the market on the east side of the road leading into Or Samet. Each point had about 1-2 shots fired, totaling 11 shots. Heavy rain followed soon after, and so far no further movements have been observed from the Cambodian side.

Earlier the same day, around 09:00, officials detected foreigners, described as Westerners of unknown nationality, approaching the barbed wire near the road entrance to Or Samet. Thai officials fired 2 warning shots as a security measure to prevent incursions and avoid misunderstandings that could affect border security.

Security units assess that the Cambodian gunfire appears to be a form of 'frontline checking.' The overall situation remains under control, with Thai forces maintaining a constant 24-hour watch.
