Third Announcement: Check Provinces at Risk of Heavy Rain Beware of Flash Floods and Debris Flows from 14-18 May 2026

The Meteorological Department issued its third announcement warning of heavy to very heavy rain and advising caution against flash floods and debris flows during 14-18 May 2026.

Date: 14 May 2026 GMT+7Meteorological DepartmentAnnouncement on heavy to very heavy rain over Thailand and strong winds in the Andaman Sea, No. 3 (effective 14-18 May 2026). It states that from 14-18 May 2026, rainfall will increase with some areas experiencing heavy to very heavy rain in the North, Central, East, and South regions.

Residents in these areas are advised to beware of dangers from heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which may cause flash floods and debris flows, especially in foothill areas near waterways and lowlands. This is due to a strong low-pressure area in the lower Bay of Bengal moving north to cover the upper Bay of Bengal, along with a strengthening southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.

Waves and winds in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will strengthen. From 15-18 May 2026, the Andaman Sea will have waves 2-3 meters high, exceeding 3 meters in thunderstorm areas. The upper Gulf of Thailand will have waves about 2 meters high, exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorms. Mariners in these areas should navigate cautiously and avoid sailing in thunderstorm areas. Small boats in the Andaman Sea are advised not to depart during these days.
