14 May 2026Meteorological Department websiteAnnouncement regarding"Heavy to very heavy rainfall over Thailand and strong waves in the Andaman Sea, Announcement No. 4 (64/2569), effective until 18 May 2026"The announcement states
Thailand will experience increased rainfall with heavy to very heavy rain in some areas of the North, Central, East, and South regions. Residents in these areas should beware of dangers from heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which may cause flash floods and mountain runoff, especially in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying plains.
This is due to a strong low-pressure trough in the lower Bay of Bengal moving to cover the upper Bay of Bengal, combined with the southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, which will intensify.
Waves and winds in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will start to strengthen. From 15 to 18 May 2026, the upper Andaman Sea from Phuket northwards will have waves 2–3 meters high, with waves exceeding 3 meters in areas with thunderstorms. The lower Andaman Sea from Krabi southwards and the upper Gulf of Thailand will have waves about 2 meters high, exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm areas. Mariners in these areas are advised to navigate cautiously and avoid sailing in thunderstorms. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea should refrain from leaving shore during this period.
