In the case where the 2nd Army Area took custody of "Uncle Yot," Mr. Yot Sainoi, 58, a Thai citizen, returning him to the country after he went to gather forest products near the Surin border and disappeared on 25 April 2026, his family and local authorities, including civilians, police, and military, joined in the search.
After reasons suggested he might have been lost near the border, the 2nd Army Area used cooperative mechanisms between itself and the 4th Military Region to investigate and found that Mr. Yot Sainoi was prosecuted by Cambodian authorities for illegal border crossing at the Udor Meanchey Provincial Court. Upon learning this, the 2nd Army Area sent a letter requesting assistance from the 4th Military Region of Cambodia to facilitate his return, which was approved. He was repatriated on 15 May 2026 at the permanent Chong Sa-ngam border crossing, Phu Sing district, Sisaket province, as previously reported. The 2nd Army Area has safely returned "Uncle Yot," a Thai citizen, to his family.)

Officials then brought him food and desserts to eat before escorting him by van from the temporary border checkpoint to his home to reunite with his family.
