
The Meteorological Department has issued its 7th bulletin warning of "heavy to very heavy rainfall" Check the provinces expected to be affected, with possible flash floods and mountain runoff.
16 May 2026 GMT+7The Meteorological Department's websiteannounced"Heavy to very heavy rainfall over Thailand and strong winds over the Andaman Sea, Bulletin No. 7 (effective until 18 May 2026)"It stated that rainfall is increasing with heavy to very heavy rain in some areas of the North, Central, East, and South regions. Residents in these areas are urged to be cautious of dangers from heavy and accumulating rain, which may cause flash floods and mountain runoff, especially in foothill areas near waterways and lowlands.
This is due to the strengthening southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. People are also advised to take care of their health during these changing weather conditions.
Waves and winds over the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand are fairly strong. The upper Andaman Sea, from Phuket Province northward, has waves 2–3 meters high, with waves exceeding 3 meters in areas experiencing thunderstorms.
The lower Andaman Sea, from Krabi Province southward, and the upper Gulf of Thailand have waves around 2 meters high, with waves over 2 meters in thunderstorm areas. Mariners in these zones are advised to navigate cautiously and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea are advised to stay ashore.
