Urgent Recovery of Victims After Train Collides with Bus Barrier Gate Could Not Close Due to Bus Blocking Tracks

Accident "Train Collides with Bus" Officials are urgently recovering the bodies of the deceased and transporting the injured to nearby hospitals. They found that the barrier gate could not close because the bus was parked on the railway tracks.

On 16 May 2026, at approximately 15:40, a severe accident and fire occurred involving a public bus near the Airport Rail Link Makkasan Station on Asok-Din Daeng Road, Makkasan Subdistrict, Ratchathewi District. Fire and rescue personnel from Phayathai Station promptly responded to control the situation. Initial reports confirmed about 8 fatalities and several injured, as previously reported.

Later, Mr. Siripong Angkasakulkiat, Deputy Minister of Transport, revealed that the bus was stopped at a red light on the railway tracks, preventing the railway crossing barrier from lowering. Additionally, the train was hauling heavy container cars and could not brake in time, causing the accident.

Reporters noted that about 20 people were injured in the incident, mostly drivers who had parked near the bus. After the train struck the bus and dragged it a considerable distance, nearby parked vehicles were also hit. Authorities have transported all the injured to nearby hospitals.

Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
